2014 Mary River Catchment Waterwatch Results

The MRCCC has coordinated a Waterwatch Program in the Mary River Catchment for more than a decade. The Waterwatch networks now include the Mary River and tributaries in the Upper Mary, Kenilworth, Gympie, Gympie East, Widgee-Wide Bay, Tiaro, Maryborough and Munna Creek subcatchments.

Currently, 98 volunteers undertake monthly water quality monitoring at 119 sites with field equipment provided by the MRCCC.  The volunteers test for pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity (salinity), dissolved oxygen and temperature.  The MRCCC’s Waterwatch volunteers are also our eyes on the creeks, recording observations about the condition of the waterway, presence of weeds, native or pest fauna species and any other relevant information.

The data gathered by volunteers over a lengthy period of time has enabled a water quality rating to be provided to each waterway.  Click on the following link to download a whole of catchment summary of long term waterwatch data.
