The competition is hosted by the Lake Macdonald Freshwater Fishing Association with a fantastic pool of prizes sponsored by Ed van der Kruk of Hooked on Angling and Outdoors in Hilton Terrace, Tewantin.

The competition starts at 6.30 am at Mary River Cod Park, in Collwood Rd, Cooroy, adjacent to the Gerry Cook Fish Hatchery. Entrants can fish from a boat with an electric motor (limited number of entries), from a kayak or from the banks around the Lake.

Entry costs just $20 per adult and $10 per child (17 years and under) with all proceeds going to support the breeding program for the endangered Mary River cod at the Gerry Cook Hatchery.

The Fishing Competition coincides with the annual Noosa Festival of Water at the Noosa Botanic Gardens and Lake Macdonald Amphitheatre which starts at 10 am and finishes at 3pm.  Fishing Competition winners will be announced in the Amphitheatre at the Festival at 1.45 pm.
