Spring in to Mary River Month update

Coming up in Mary River Month …

Welcome to another update for Mary River Month 2017.

It is so great to see some beautiful images captured and submitted for our Spring in the Mary Photo Competition once again this year!  We would really like to encourage our young people to take photos of aspects of the Mary River catchment that they love and enjoy. Whether it be farming, fishing, enjoying a swim, just being in nature. Please send them in for us all to enjoy!

Do you have children, grandchildren nieces or nephews who enjoy taking photos?  We would like to acknowledged for their efforts in taking images of what appeals to them, in their local area.  All images submitted will be printed and displayed at the Mary River Festival in Kandanga on Saturday 11th November.  There is of course a Junior Category and the winner will win $100!!

See your photo on a special edition postcard!
What is very exciting this year is that our Major Sponsor, Murray Views in Gympie, are also keen to reprint winning images (with full acknowledgement to the photographers) into ‘special edition postcards’. These postcards will be distributed locally and to their tourism outlets throughout the region and beyond, with all proceeds going to help look after the Mary River catchment.

How great for all the winning photographers to have their images printed and be acknowledged for their unique photos of an aspect of our beautiful Mary River catchment!

Don’t delay…..get your awesome photos taken and submitted by 6th November to have the opportunity to win cash prizes and see your image as a lovely postcard!   Get all the details and entry form at:  http://mrccc.org.au/2017/09/spring-in-the-mary-photo-competition/

Perhaps the written word is more your method of expression.   Don’t be shy……feel free to express your thoughts and feelings about your local waterway, pastures, flora and fauna by submitting your musings to Tell Mary’s Tales   This is not a competition but a way to help celebrate Mary River Month in poetry or prose. Send in your works to maryrivermonth@mrccc.org.au by 3 November 2017 to be in the draw for some great prizes and have your work displayed for all to enjoy at the Mary River Festival.  Some of the poetry entered will be read from stage.  We are also lucky to have the “Lady of the Lines’ Shelley Hansen come along to read her poem “Mary River”.

Mary River Month will finish its celebrations with a fun day out at the Mary River Festival, Kandanga on Saturday 11th November –  11.30am to 7.30pm.  This year the Festival features a community tree planting, a range of interesting talks about the Mary River catchment – more details coming in next weeks update.  SEE YOU THERE!!!!

Full details of these and all activities within Mary River Month can be found on our website:  http://mrccc.org.au/mary-river-month/

MRCCC acknowledges and pays our respects to the traditional owners of the Mary River catchment and their ancestors past and present.
